At the Circolo Golf Venezia what seems like a dream is instead reality: everyone can play golf even on the Lido of Venice, the island of Lido which is located between the Adriatic Sea and the Venice lagoon. Its renowned beaches are bathed by the sea and are located right in front of one of the most famous art cities of international tourism, with its canals and Piazza San Marco in plain sight in front of the greens.
The Circolo Golf Venezia, which opened in 1930, is among the firstborn in Italy. You enter by crossing a bridge that leads into the ancient Fort Alberoni, an Austrian fortification built to defend the "floating city". Military lodgings and horse stables form the backbone of the current Club House, in an atmosphere rich in history.
The golf course with its 18 holes is 6,199 meters long and full of maritime pines, willows, mulberries and poplars. Authoritative personalities played on the greens of the Lido of Venice, from Hitler and Mussolini to the Duke of Windsor and Henry Cotton. Countless top-level races have been held here.
The par 72 game course, built on sand dunes, is one of the few Italian "links". Water hazards and the rough sand bottom make it different from many other courses. The winds often present require good control of the game to take the greens well protected by the bunkers. A perfect combination of natural beauty and technical difficulties.
The Club House is located in a suggestive historical setting, which stands out for its large veranda near the putting green and the strong spirit of welcome, hospitality and sportsmanship that every golfer can immediately breathe.
In addition to the many other services offered, a comfortable restaurant inside the Club House offers genuine and characteristic cuisine of the Venetian Lagoon. In the Circolo Golf Venezia you can also meet ducks that move in groups and admire other typical species of the local fauna: many, endangered, populate an Oasis protected by the WWF that extends close to the playing area.
